There are many different versions of the history of the
holiday. Most are good. A few are motivated by personal agenda
though. Believe it or not, some misguided folks want to do away with the
holiday! Given that this exists, a few notes:
Razor blades in candy and poisoned candy etc. are like
alligators in the sewers. It's an urban myth. Please, always check
your candy. But know that this is the same as buckling your seat
belt. Actually, your child has a better chance of being in a major car
accident than by being poisoned or injured with tainted sweets. There has
never been a documented case of a stranger giving out tainted sweets.
There is nothing in Halloween that could reasonably be believed
to infringe upon anyone's religious convictions, whatever they may be.
Halloween began as, but is no longer, a Celtic
Pagan Holiday. For that matter, Easter and Christmas also began as Celtic Pagan
Holidays. All three were modified to fit into the church calendar. There is a world of difference between Satanism and
Paganism. The Druids were Pagans, not Satanists. Wiccans are also Pagans, not Satanists.
Not all 'witches' are or were Wiccans.
